Chaga Fungus
Chaga mushrooms are a fungus from the Hymenochaetaceae family commonly found in forests with birch trees. Some studies have found Chaga to help reduce inflammation by preventing inflammation-triggering cytokines from developing. It may also fight certain bacteria through stimulating white blood cells. Another benefit of Chaga consumption may be its ability to lower cholesterol levels to reduce the risk of heart disease.
Lion's Mane Mushroom
Lion's mane is a mushroom from the family Hericiaceae. Unlike Chaga, this mushroom has a lighter complexion and is quite distinct looking, as it is covered in spines! It is commonly found growing in clumps that resemble a mane of hair. Some studies suggest that the two active compounds of this mushroom, Hericenones and Erinacines, may help promote the growth of brain cells and possibly protect against dementia.
Reishi Fungus
This edible fungus is from the Ganodermataceae family. There have been some studies that have found that the consumption of reishi fungus may bolster your immune system by stimulating white blood cells and altering their inflammation pathways.
